Here’s a fun adventure to do with your toddler this fall…

  1. Gather a small bag, crayons and paper. Let your toddler be in charge of it and carry the bag.
  2. Go on a walk, hike, or even just out to your front or backyard.
  3. Explain to your toddler you’re hunting for fall treasures. This is particularly fun in the woods. Talk about all of the colors and objects you see.
  4. Gather leaves, twigs and rocks on your adventure.
  5. Help your tot hold the paper up to a tree and rub the crayon (with no paper wrapper) across the bark and make a rubbing.
  6. Do the same to the leaves and twigs. Even rocks.
  7. Talk about the different textures.
  8. Hang up the rubbing on the fridge when you get home!

My 2.5 year old and I (with my one year old in a baby carrier) did this activity this week. It was a big hit!
