Here’s a fun adventure to do with your toddler this fall…
- Gather a small bag, crayons and paper. Let your toddler be in charge of it and carry the bag.
- Go on a walk, hike, or even just out to your front or backyard.
- Explain to your toddler you’re hunting for fall treasures. This is particularly fun in the woods. Talk about all of the colors and objects you see.
- Gather leaves, twigs and rocks on your adventure.
- Help your tot hold the paper up to a tree and rub the crayon (with no paper wrapper) across the bark and make a rubbing.
- Do the same to the leaves and twigs. Even rocks.
- Talk about the different textures.
- Hang up the rubbing on the fridge when you get home!
My 2.5 year old and I (with my one year old in a baby carrier) did this activity this week. It was a big hit!
